How to Keep Your Hot Tub Clean: A Must for Soccer Families

When your household is full of soccer players, recovery is just as important as training. One of our favorite ways to relax and soothe sore muscles is by soaking in our hot tub. It’s not just for us—our kids’ friends love it too, making it a well-used and well-loved part of our home. But with heavy use (and a backyard prone to strong winds), keeping it clean is an absolute necessity!

Our Hot Tub Cleaning Routine

Here’s a breakdown of our cleaning process:

1️⃣ Drain and Rinse: We start by fully draining the water. Any remaining debris is rinsed out before we refill.

2️⃣ Scrub It Down: Using a non-abrasive cleaner, we scrub the tub’s interior to remove any buildup. Since we use it so often, this step is crucial to keeping the water fresh and free from grime.

3️⃣ Clean the Filters: The filters do a lot of the heavy lifting, so we make sure to rinse them out or replace them if necessary.

4️⃣ Refill and Balance the Water: Once everything is clean, we refill the tub and test the water’s pH and sanitizer levels to ensure it's safe and ready to use again.

5️⃣ Cover Up—Or Try To! Our backyard is ridiculously windy. The first hot tub cover we had didn’t last a month before the wind took it out! So, we’re still on the hunt for a solution that will keep our tub covered and protected.
